New Place, New Teacher, New Students
We have been sharing with you about the three locations Reach the Nations has established in Islamabad for the teaching of basic reading, writing, and math skills to people in Pakistan who have never had the opportunity to learn. Our students are mostly women, but we also have a few young students who are not able to attend public schools and a few men who also want to learn these skills.
We have now extended these literacy opportunities to an area far outside of Islamabad. In Daska, where Mehboob and Irfan have been working to establish a church, we have engaged a teacher to hold literacy classes in the home of a Christian who wants to help.
Rehana has been trained as a teacher in general, but has been trained specifically in how to teach literacy by Zarish and Pastor Babar who oversee the program in Islamabad.
She has a class of about 20 students who are meeting three times a week for two-hour classes. Then they are given homework and have to complete daily lessons and practices before they return to the next class.
Pray for this teacher and for these students that they will learn these skills and go on to glorify God in new ways in their lives.
