The Best Seat in the House
The Reach the Nations team in Punjab is working to establish a small, but growing, congregation in Daska. It is a work begun by Mehboob and Irfan a few years ago and they now minister regularly to about 40 people who meet for prayer and worship.
Why Daska? Here's Mehboob's response: "Daska is a city where a large number of people are living, but the majority of the people are not Christians." He comments that there are churches working in some of the surrounding communities, but where the RTN team is ministering in Daska, there is no other ongoing Christian work. So the need is great. Mehboob continues, "Praise God we are working in this area, and we believe our ministry will be increased."
As we have told you before, the people gathering in Daska meet mostly in an outdoor patio setting and, for smaller prayer meetings, they may meet in someone's home. Either way, seating is mostly on blankets spread out on concrete. So, the man you see behind Mehboob is not a guest speaker or an honored official. He is simply an elderly man who cannot sit on the ground, so he is given one of the very few chairs available. His is front and center - the best seat in the house!
Above you see a photo of Adnan, Peter, Manzoor, Mehboob, and their driver when they were all present in Daska earlier this year to encourage the believers and support the work that is being established there.
We are praying with these folks that God will soon provide a more comfortable space in which to meet - one that will be attractive and inviting to others to come to hear the teaching, pray with brothers and sisters in Christ, and grow in their faith.
"As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him." - Psalm 103:13
