Learning to Lead

Gary Finkbeiner, President of Reach the Nations, has recently returned from teaching at the Covenant Leadership Training Institute (CLTI) at their campus in Livingstone, Zambia.

Three young Pakistani pastors are among the eight students, from four nations, presently studying with CLTI in Zambia. They have all committed to a six-month program of intensive training in the Bible and church leadership.

One of those Pakistanis is Shakeel, who is working with RTN in evangelistic outreach and church planting in Hindu villages in the greater Hyderabad area. Another is Khalid, who leads a 400-member church in Karachi, and the third is Ambrose who is a worship leader at Christ’s Church in Islamabad. All three are committed to knowing the Bible better and to discipling those to whom they minister.

Gary taught the three-week course titled “The Doctrine of Humanity: Men and Woman Made in the Image of God”. Of his experience, he says, "It was an absolute honor teaching the leaders and future church planters from different nations in this year's CLTI program. I don't think I have ever witnessed a group of young men study and work so hard to learn the Scriptures and a solid evangelical theology in my life. Watching the Lord forge together men from different races and backgrounds was incredible. It was inspiring to be with them."

CLTI is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, and has satellite campuses not only in Livingstone, but also in Guatemala City. They are committed to training Christian leaders around the world, offering scholarships to those who are qualified and called to positions of ministry.
