New Opportunities for Women in Pakistan
A few months ago, Reach the Nations started a new literacy class, this time in the G-8 region of Islamabad.
These photos show the G-8 students - 22 of them in total - hard at work learning letters, sounds, and words as they are progressing toward an October graduation.
Sikendar is the teacher of the class and is leading his students well as they learn new skills which include not only reading, but writing and math as well.
While Sikendar is teaching in the G-8 area, Zaresh continues teaching her students at Prayer Tower Church also in Islamabad. The first graduating class is still learning how to apply their new skills to studying the Bible. They meet together to read through the New Testament verse-by-verse until they all understand. This class just completed the Gospel of Matthew and is moving on to study Mark together.
It takes concentration, but they are learning and are loving the new freedom they have to read God's Word on their own. What seemed impossible has become a reality for these women.
We at RTN are grateful for Zaresh and her husband, Pastor Babar as they lead the literacy program in Pakistan. They are always looking for new students and for new locations and teachers. We are proceeding a step at a time as God leads. Please pray for good decisions to be made and for these students to flourish in their studies and in their lives of faith.
"Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness." - 2 Timothy 3:16 (NET Bible)
